The way of the wicked is like darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.
Things God Does
and other interpretations
God tells us what the right way is, and that way keeps us from stumbling, from walking about as in darkness

Proverbs 4:14-15 —
Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil. Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn away from it and pass on.
Observations
It is the path followed by wicked people that we are to avoid, more than wickedness alone
We can learn from the wicked — observe which path they choose to take, and avoid it
If someone whose judgment I don’t trust is doing something, that should be a warning sign that perhaps I shouldn’t
Application
Steer clear of the path (actions, words, ambitions, activities, hobbies, habits, excuses, patterns, lifestyle) of anyone who walks contrary to God.
That said, ungodly people do many good and appropriate things
So I clearly have to exercise great judgment: is this part of their lifestyle something that leads to wickedness, or is it a good or neutral thing?
given that ambiguity, this verse is more of a “be aware” verse than a rule verse.
When God gives a surprising instruction, listen. His ways are light. The other way is darkness, means stumbling over who knows what.
